Cooling Capacity (Tonnes) What it means? Cooling capacity of an airconditioner is measured in tonnes. The tonnage of an air conditioner depends on its BTU/hr (British Thermal Units per hour) value. How it works? As a thumb rule, divide the square feet area of your room (length multiplied by width) by 600 to arrive at the basic tonnage capacity required. Add 0.5 tonnes for every 10 people occupying the room at the same time. Similarly, add 0.5 tonnes for every 1500 watts of appliances or lighting present in the room (A computer would consume about 300 watts and a regular bulb, 40 to 60 watts). Always round off on the higher side. This calculation is very subjective and each manufacturer has his own calculations for measuring required tonnage. Approx area of 130 sq.ft. would require 1 ton airconditioner. Very often manufacturers calculations suggest a number that is very high and your own discretion is required when you actually decide to buy. Benefits Choosing the correct cooling capacity helps reduce your electricity bills. A larger airconditioner than what is required not only costs more but cools too quickly, switching on and off at very short intervals. This leaves the room unpleasantly cold and humid. On the other hand an air conditioner that is small for the room will take a longer period to cool the room and will not give very good results. | 1.8 |
BEE Star Rating What it means? The BEE (Bureau of Energy Efficiency) India, in collaboration with the International Institute of Energy Conservation, has come up with a star rating system. How it works? The star rating system is a way of measuring energy efficiency. Its applied to all electronic products such as refrigerators, TVs, ACs and so on. Every AC model can get its EER tested and get a star rating. Currently, its voluntary, not mandatory for companies to get a star rating for their models. Benefits Higher the Star rating of the AC, lesser is its power consumption. | 5 |
Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) What it means? Energy Efficiency Ratio measures the cooling efficiency of the air conditioner compared to the power it consumes. It is the ratio of the cooling capacity in BTU/hr to its electricity consumption in watts. Machines with higher EERs help save on electricity consumption. How it works? Models with a higher EER would be energy efficient and save on your electric bills but may be more expensive to buy. Benefits Higher EER is better as it saves power. | 11.62 |

- Follow ME
Follow Me is a unique feature developed by Hitachi, which is activated at the press of a button on the remote. High sensitive sensors of the ACE Follow Me air-conditioner detects even the smallest of the human body movements (1 ft. magnitude) in the three sensing zones (as depicted in the illustrations below) and directs the airflow towards the direction where the movement takes place.
- Auto Humid Control
Auto Humid Control is an intelligent feature which helps you achieve a comfortable room ambience even during high humid conditions. In such conditions, if an air-conditioner is operated on a cool mode, it can achieve the desired temperature but will not be able to get the humidity levels lowered to your comfort level. But Hitachi ACs with its unique next generation Auto Humid Control not only maintains the temperature settings (near to the user set temperature) but also ensures that the Relative Humidity is further reduced by a whopping 27% as compared to the normal cool mode, thus making it ideal for high humid regions or conditions.
- Auto Climate Technology
Human comfort is a combination of many factors, as depicted on the right. For example, in Delhi, the month of June is the peak of summers and temperatures touch close to 44˚C with a humidity level of 60%. Whereas in Mumbai, at the same time of the day and the month, the temperature is around 35˚C with a humidity level of 85%.
In a regular AC, you can control these factors by changing the temperature and regulating the fan speed. But this presents you with more than 50 different combinations and choosing the correct option for optimal efficiency and comfort becomes extremely cumbersome.
That's why we developed Auto Climate Technology (ACT) which is a super-advanced intelligent feature that has temperature and humidity data of over 100 cities fed into it. The AC recognises which city you are in, the time of day and your individual metabolic needs (to be chosen by you). Based on these factors, it continuously changes the settings of the AC to provide you the most comfortable environment, while functioning most efficiently, at the touch of a button.
- On/Off Timer With Advanced Start-Up
Simple On/Off Timer : You set the timer to switch on the AC at the specified time. The AC automatically starts at the preset time, and begins to cool the room. However, when you reach the room, it might be a bit too warm or a bit too cool. Basically, you don't get the desired comfort level. Also, you end up wasting a lot of electricity.
On/Off Timer With Advanced Start-up: You set the temperature that you want at the given time. The AC is smart enough to scan the room an hour before the set time. It calculates the time it'll need to reach the desired temperature, and switches on accordingly. So you get the perfect comfort level as soon as you come back, without wasting any electricity. - Powerful Mode

Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) What it means? Energy Efficiency Ratio measures the cooling efficiency of the air conditioner compared to the power it consumes. How it works? It is the ratio of the cooling capacity in BTU/hr to its electricity consumption in watts. Benefits It is in your best interest to buy machines with higher EERs as they are more energy efficient and can save on electricity consumption. | 10.6 |
Compressor | |
Compressor Type What it means? Compressor Type states the type of compressor that your air conditioner has. They are of two types: reciprocating or rotary. How it works? The compressor in the AC circulates the refrigerant through all the refrigeration system parts to provide uninterrupted cooling in the room. Compressor is the most important part and is often called The Heart of the refrigeration system. There are of two types: reciprocating or rotary. Benefits Rotary compressors are silent and generate less vibrations as compared to reciprocating compressors. Reciprocating compressors are generally less expensive and not as power efficient and silent as the ones fitted with a rotary compressor. Rotary compressors are not repairable, when the failure occurs out of warranty period. Reciprocating compressors are repairable – mostly by respective compressor manufacturers in India. | Rotary |
Refrigerant Gas What it means? The refrigerant gas is the substance that flows through the various components and coils of the air conditioner such as the evaporator, compressor and condenser to remove heat and cool the environment. The weight of the refrigerant (measured in grams). R-22 is a long-time standard refrigerant used in cooling products. | R-22 |
Fans | |
Number of Fan Speeds Available What it means? The number of settings at which the fan of the air conditioner can operate (just like the regulator of a ceiling fan). Benefits More fan settings are preferred as it gives the user a wider choice of speeds at which the air conditioner blows the air. | 2 |
Air Circulation and Moisture Removal | |
Air Circulation (High) (CFM) | 410 |
Air Circulation (High) (M3/Hr) What it means? Air flow is the circulation of cold air from the machine. It is measured as M3 per hour. Higher the air flow or circulation better is the cooling. | --- |
Filters | |
Filter Type What it means? A filter purifies the air that goes through the air conditioner. Slide in/ Slide out filters and Pop-up filters allow easy maintenance as they can be removed for cleaning without opening or dismantling the entire machine. How it works? There are different types of filters, which remove dust, germs, bacteria, odour, etc. Deodourising filters remove dust particles, dirt, and tobacco smoke and absorb odour-generating particles. Anti bacterial and anti fungal filters clean the air and remove germs and bacteria thus reducing respiratory problems. The Electrostatic filter removes dust particles as small as 0.01 microns cleaning the air of dirt, dust and tobacco smoke etc. The Ionisation filter restores the balance between postitive and negative ions, thus reducing domestic pollution. Benefits Filters help to improve air freshness. It is very necessary that the air conditioner you choose not just cools the air, but also cleans the air. Go in for air conditioners that have built-in deodorizer and special filters that remove bacteria and dust. | Pop-up |
